About Us
We publish a free, modern browser jigsaw puzzle — real interlocking pieces that snap into connected groups, a gallery of built-in artwork, puzzles from your own photos, and adjustable piece counts, on any screen.
Our craft
One picture. Every piece home.
Sort, look, fit, repeat. Watch small clusters grow and merge until the whole image is whole again. That loop is everything we design around.

What we make
playjigsawpuzzle.app is the site behind our version of the classic jigsaw puzzle. The product is a single-player picture puzzle: a photo or illustration is cut into interlocking pieces, scattered on a table, and rebuilt by dragging matching pieces together until every piece is joined.
We are not an app-store publisher and there is nothing to download. The game is the website. That keeps load times short, works on phones and desktops alike, and avoids an account wall. Best times per picture and piece count live in local browser storage on your device.
If you are comparing this to another puzzle site, this page only speaks for playjigsawpuzzle.app. The mechanics and controls described in our how-to-play guide and FAQ match this exact build.
Our story
The jigsaw is one of the oldest puzzles people still do for fun. We treat that as a reason to get the feel exactly right — real tabs, honest snapping, connected groups — and the friction as close to zero as we can.
The jigsaw puzzle was invented around 1760 by John Spilsbury, a London engraver and mapmaker. He glued a map to a thin sheet of hardwood and cut around each country with a fine saw, creating a "dissected map" that schoolchildren reassembled to learn geography.
For over a century puzzles stayed wooden, hand-cut, and expensive. Die-cut cardboard arrived in the early 1900s and brought the price down; jigsaw puzzles became a genuine craze for adults, first in the 1900s and again through the Great Depression of the 1930s, when they were cheap entertainment and often rented by the week.
playjigsawpuzzle.app is an independent, modern version of that same idea. The pieces interlock and snap into groups like the cardboard kind, but the picture, the piece count, and the source image are all yours to choose — and a finished puzzle can be reshuffled and solved again in a second.
What we stand for
Open the page and the gallery is right there. No account wall, no download, no splash video — pick a picture and the pieces are on the table.
Pieces have proper interlocking tabs, true neighbours snap with a click, and connected pieces move as one group. It behaves the way a jigsaw should.
Build a puzzle from any picture you own. The file is cut into pieces in your browser and never uploaded, logged, or shared.
The whole game is free forever. No piece-count paywall, no interstitial video ads between puzzles, no "unlock 4K" upsell.
Who it is for
playjigsawpuzzle.app is a family-friendly, single-player game with no chat and no store. A poor fit if you want competitive multiplayer; a good fit if you want a proper jigsaw on whatever screen is nearby.
No timer forces a move and nothing is chasing you. The whole activity is sorting, looking, and fitting — a quiet, absorbing loop.
Twelve pieces is a couple of minutes; a hundred is a proper afternoon. Pick the count that matches the time you actually have.
Best times stay on the device you played on. That is a deliberate trade: instant play and real privacy, with no cloud restore.
Why this site
There are many jigsaw sites online. This one exists to ship a single fast, honest version — real pieces, your choice of picture, and no clutter.
A gallery of hand-built artwork or any photo from your device — landscapes, family pictures, artwork, whatever you like. The photo never leaves the browser.
A reference preview, a faint placement ghost for featureless areas, free pan and zoom, and a scatter button to re-spread the loose pieces. None of it is counted against you.
No auto-playing video, no "install our app" banners, no dark patterns around the settings. The how-to-play guide and FAQ describe this exact build.
How we build
The game runs entirely on the web: fast loads, drag / touch / keyboard controls, and progress that stays local unless you clear your browser data. The built-in artwork is hand-authored vector graphics, so the whole gallery costs a few kilobytes. We use lightweight analytics to see what helps players — never to gate the game behind a profile.
Phone, tablet, and desktop share one table. Drag with a mouse, drag with a finger, or use the keyboard shortcuts for preview, ghost, scatter, zoom, and mute.
A picture you choose for a custom puzzle is read and cut in your browser. It is not uploaded, stored, or logged, and it is gone from memory when you close the tab.
We watch aggregate usage through Google Analytics to improve pacing and polish. Details are in our Privacy Policy — never as a sales pitch.
Contact
